The temperatures were high, but the energy was even higher as an estimated 4,000 people gathered at Compton College for the 15th Annual Compton Walk For A Cure, bringing the community together for a morning focused on breast cancer awareness, education and early detection.

For Compton Unified scholars, preparing for college begins long before senior year. That’s why providing early exposure to colleges, careers and the opportunities available after graduation is such an important part of our work. Compton Unified hosted its 11th Annual Compton Goes to College: Student Conference at Cal State Dominguez Hills for 1,200 scholars.

Compton Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Darin Brawley has been named the 2026 recipient of the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education for Pre-K–12 Education, one of the field’s most prestigious honors.

Compton Unified School District (CUSD) has recorded remarkable achievements on the most recent administration of the California Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC), surpassing previous benchmarks in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. This year’s preliminary results demonstrate a significant 8-point increase in ELA and a 6.4-point increase in Mathematics.

Compton Unified scholars delivered an exceptional performance at the Orange County Academic Pentathlon, as Jefferson Elementary’s 8th Grade Science team, Kelly Elementary’s 8th Grade Math team, and Clinton Elementary’s 8th Grade Fine Arts team each captured 1st place in their respective events.

Scholars from Compton Unified School District (CUSD) showcased their STEM excellence at the Aerial Drone Competition in San Diego last week, bringing home multiple championship titles. Sixteen teams representing nine schools demonstrated their skills in coding, teamwork, and drone navigation.
